This screening combines two key services:

The first is a comprehensive DNA profile to understand the cancer genetic risk carried by an individual.

The second is an extensive physical evaluation where a full assessment of the patient is carried out to determine any environmental and physical risks that may influence an individual’s future wellbeing.

Hereditary Health Screening becomes an important tool when:

1.An individual receives a cancer diagnosis. If genetic testing has not previously been carried out on an individual who develops cancer, it is important to assess the patient’s genetic profile in order to identify possible ‘faulty’ genes that may have been inherited by other family members.

2. Common cancer diagnosis within one family. If there are certain types of cancer that are more common in one family, for example, breast, ovarian or bowel cancer, then there may be a genetic reason behind their development. It is therefore important to screen the whole family, including those affected by cancer, to assess the risk to each individual.

Even if a person has no symptoms or immediate concerns with their health, there are intervals in a person’s life, especially as they get older, where annual health screenings can prove helpful in maintaining good health. Genetic testing (sometimes referred to as DNA testing) is a simple blood or saliva test that allows experts to interpret your DNA and identify if you are at risk of developing the most common cancers in the future. The testing includes BRCA1, BRCA2, Color 30 Gene Panel, 77 Cardiac Genes and Extended Gene Panel.
